The Pro-Life agenda. Indeed, what could be more sinister than not being supportive of the mindless slaughter of babies and the saddling of guilt upon an already stressed out pregnant teen? I'm going to try to contain myself and not swear in writing, but right about now I have a few choice words for people like Jehmu (see video below). She should call me; I'll be glad to tell her what I think of her pro-death agenda.
Not that anything in the Bible is going to make any difference to a liberal, but perhaps the best I can do right now is quote to you the words of Jesus Christ from the gospel of Matthew chapter 18, verse 5 which states, "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." Something to think about for all of us who tend to intentionally walk in direct opposition to the will of God.
When you teach a pregnant child to murder their own child, you are tightening a millstone around your own neck and hers. If you want to be evil, be my guest. If you want to confuse a child into being evil, be my enemy. I'd bet a leg that you don't support capital punishment, Jehmu. But whether you do or not, I'd like you to try to explain to me how it is acceptable for a baby to be condemned to die without trial.
In the case of Tim Tebow, you know you have problem if the touching story of a mother who chose life scares the hell out of you.
Potent Quotables (updated periodically)
- "If you like sausages and laws, you should never watch either one of them being made." -- Otto von Bismarck
- "God who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever." -- Thomas Jefferson
- "The best way to prove a stick is crooked is to lay a straight one beside it" -- FW Boreham
- "There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who walk into a room and say, 'There you are' and those who say, 'Here I am'" -- Abigail Van Buren
- "It was not political rhetoric, mass rallies or poses of moral indignation that gave the people a better life. It was capitalism." -- Thomas Sowell

A Billion Here, A Trillion There...
I'd like to call your attention to this picture of a cluster of stories off the Fox News website from January 28:
They can't help themselves, can they? It's like they get re-programed when they get into congress into spend-bots. Or maybe they were always programmed that way. Nature or Nurture?
You sort of become numb to the vastness of the hole they're digging for us. Because a $12,000,000,000,000 deficit isn't enough, is it Nancy? Is it? Let's go ahead and throw a couple more trillion in there for kicks. Or maybe to continue with abject FAIL like this piece of crapnews: SEC to require disclosure of climate change risks (WaPo)

The commission, in a 3 to 2 vote, decided to require that companies disclose in their public filings the impact of climate change on their businesses — from new regulations or legislation they may face domestically or abroad to potential changes in economic trends or physical risks to a company.November cannot come fast enough.

The Mindset of a Thoroughly Modern Liberal
From Kos, in the aftermath of Scott Brown's win in MA, comes this commenter:
MHB: What we’re witnessing is the product of a corrupt media and a dumb, distractable electorate. I’m not sure that anything can be done at this point, but one thing I am sure of is that continuing to operate on the premise that the majority of Americans are reasonable, intelligent people who will do the right thing if the facts are presented to them objectively is not going to work. I know that it’s not what most people who come to this site want to hear, but most Americans need to be manipulated into doing the right thing. Reasoning with them might be the morally correct thing to do, but is simply not going to get the job done. That, my friends, is a disgustingly good example of a "progressive's" mindset.

Prayer for Haiti
...is much needed. Maybe there is something in the links below that will help you figure out how you can help if you are so inclined. At times like these, it's hard to know what the best thing you can do as a regular citizen living in the US.

A Little Tit
Oh good, another "Van" someone. I was missing Van Jones. You gotta love what Van Hollen (the democratic chairman for the committee of cornmuffins or whatever) says here about Republicans: “Why would you hand the keys to the car back to the same guys whose policies drove the economy into the ditch and then walked away from the scene of the accident?” Starting to see where I'm going with this?
Turbulent example, my friend! No evidence, not a shred of fact, just a cold hard punch to the gut. That's the liberal way. But how would a guy with no imagination come up with such a pithy retort? Oh yeah, from Ted Kennedy's example of what it means to be a true compassionate liberal. Too bad you never walk away from a midnight burger run with ol' Teddy. Like the bumper sticker says, "I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than go riding with Ted Kennedy." Wait, aren't we filling his senate seat? Weird juxtaposition of comments and events there...
Hollen continues: “For the Republicans to say vote for us and bring back the guys who got us into this mess in the first place, I don’t think it’s a winner.” Too bad you can't connect that logic to Barney Frank.
Anyway, enough cheap shots. Just felt like engaging in a little tit for tat this evening. Liberals say the funniest things.
Things that don't exist in free countries...
In my estimation, people need and want leadership, but they do not need nor want a second set of parents or a set of dictators teaching them right from wrong.
I've compiled a very short list of things that one might not expect to see or hear about in a free place.
Found in the United States:
- Special Master for Executive Compensation (Kenneth Feinberg)
- the Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee
- Special Envoy for Climate Change (Todd Stern)
- Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change (Carol Browner)
- 30+ page tax returns
- a proposed healthcare bill with potential for helping a young woman pay for intentional baby death (and lower the cost of healthcare...because the government's track record proves they've always been awesome at lowering costs)
- Barney Frank
Found in Haiti:
- Front for Hope (where have I heard something like that before?)
- Struggling People's Organization
- Homes made thin as paper
Found in Venezuela:
- United Socialist Party
- a call by the president to devalue his own country's currency - (good luck trying to produce something other than oil, Hugo, while your people are not free to be capitalists) Nothing says, "I love you" like devaluing everyone's income. No wonder you and Barrack are such good buds. Spread the wealth around...til there's none...for purposes of fairness, of course.
Found in China:
- Minister of the State Commission of Population and Family Planning (Zhang Weiqing)
- Choose one kid, abort the rest

Upward Mobility
Some people think Ann Coulter is too polarizing, and so they shy away. But this article really puts her on the map for me: Christianity? Is there any better deal in town?
[Confession: I liked her before this. Sometimes the truth hurts when it's delivered unfiltered. But it hurts so good. It strikes me as pitifully ironic that some lefties cast her as a "Hateful Bitch" while not thinking that calling someone a hateful bitch makes you, in any way, a hateful bitch. Although, by pointing that irony out, I suppose it puts me very close to the edge of that same slippery slope.]
Personally, I appreciate Britt Hume's recent comments that were made in an obvious spirit of honesty and sincerity. Heck, I even heard an old testament story quoted on Dateline tonight! What is the world coming to?

G-Weird
This is actually kind of interesting. I tried it myself, and as of 11:12pm on January 8th, 2010, it's just like they said:
oh mystery of mysteries
Not sure there is anything to it...but still a bit odd, yes? No? Yes?

Bearish on Global Warming
You know, "climate change" is too convenient a term for a group of people who will, in 5 years, decide that global cooling is the real threat and that a few cronies on Capitol Hill can make a fortune by trading oxygen credits.

The Tide Has Turned
There are more employees of the government (local, state, and federal) than there are private sector goods-producing employees (mining, construction, manufacturing, etc). This disparity has been true since late 2007. The gap is now over 4 Million employees.
